Story
Hi everyone,
I am inspired by Kickstart Kids International, and hope you will be too!
For the past several weeks I have been away on vacation eating, drinking, and lounging my lazy body far too much, so it is time I did something for others and also started getting back in shape so I can resume my side job as a Bonds model. My goal is to raise, with the help of anyone who joins the team, $2,000 for Kickstart Kids, a truly inspiring organisation.
The Bay Run is one of my favourite events - only 8km so it is no marathon, but if the support is there, I plan to:
1. Go dry till the end of July as part of my intense training regimen (a worthy challenge in itself...), and
2. haul my wine and prosciutto-laden butt around those 8km as fast as I possibly can. The more money raised, the faster I haul.
The Bay Run takes us around the gorgeous Iron Cove in Sydney, and is truly a community event so it is a great kickoff to the running season!
Kickstart Kids is a charitable organisation working to kickstart the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya. Kickstart's goal is to achieve financial, environmental, and community sustainability so that Olturoto Childrens Village can kickstart the lives of up to 30 children at a time in the future. Kickstart Kids has already welcomed 8 children to Olturoto Childrens Village and plans to open three new houses in November 2015, bringing 22 more kids into the programme.
Construction of the next three houses is underway, but until the farm is able to generate enough funds to cover the costs of caring for the children, Kickstart needs our help! And that's why I'm taking on my challenge.

Kickstart Kids International is an Australian charitable organisation working to kickstart the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya through locally-led sustainable development.
Kickstart was founded in 2007 to support the establishment of Familia Moja Children’s Home in Kenya, which is now home to over 30 children.In 2011. A local Kenyan Non Government Organisation was formed to cover the financial contribution previously provided by Kickstart and has subsequently increased the number of children being cared for. This was a huge achievement towards kickstarting the lives of these beautiful children.
Kickstart’s success with Familia Moja is now being leveraged through a second Kenyan children’s centre, Olturoto Children’s Village (www.olturotochildrensvillage.org). This initiative is striving to achieve further local empowerment through financial and environmental sustainability. Olturoto Children's Village rescues, empowers and reintegrates (RER) orphaned and vulnerable children in Kajiado County, Kenya.
