Education Changes Lives
Story
I have had the privilege of volunteering in Kenya for Kickstart Kids International [KKI] at Olturoto Children's Village [OCV] for almost 3 months. During my time here I've seen, first hand, the life changing work that KKI and OCV do in kickstarting the lives of vulnerable children.
Working so closely with the children, their guardians at OCV and their teachers at the local primary school has afforded me the opportunity to see what is needed to enhance the education of these children. Education is essential in helping these children reach their potential and access opportunities that will enhance their lives now and in the future.
At the end of this year, OCV will have built another 3 houses taking their capacity to accommodate and change the lives of around 32 children a year.
My goal is to raise enough money to make and / or buy educational resources for each of the four houses. I then plan to travel back to Kenya to set up each house and train the adults working at OCV in how to use the materials with the children.
Please consider donating if you can. All money raised will go directly to creating the resources for the houses and will be personally delivered and installed by me.

Kickstart Kids International is an Australian charitable organisation working to kickstart the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya through locally-led sustainable development.
Kickstart was founded in 2007 to support the establishment of Familia Moja Children’s Home in Kenya, which is now home to over 30 children.In 2011. A local Kenyan Non Government Organisation was formed to cover the financial contribution previously provided by Kickstart and has subsequently increased the number of children being cared for. This was a huge achievement towards kickstarting the lives of these beautiful children.
Kickstart’s success with Familia Moja is now being leveraged through a second Kenyan children’s centre, Olturoto Children’s Village (www.olturotochildrensvillage.org). This initiative is striving to achieve further local empowerment through financial and environmental sustainability. Olturoto Children's Village rescues, empowers and reintegrates (RER) orphaned and vulnerable children in Kajiado County, Kenya.
